His excitement for EMS continued and during his Master’s Degree program at Boston University where he began participating and teaching at Beth Israel’s ATLS Program. He attended Boston University School of Medicine and fulfilled a dream to train in emergency medicine at Boston City Hospital/Boston Medical Center. During his graduate studies and residency years Dr. Murphy continued to work in “the field” as an EMT.

During his tenure, South Shore Hospital developed a formal EMS simulation lab, a QA/QI division for EMS, and formed one of the only ED based ambulance and communications center in the region. Dr. Murphy was appointed Director of EMS for Brigham and Women’s/Faulkner Hospitals where he practiced from 2012-2014. He is presently an EMS Physician at Tufts Medical Center, Boston.
