Research Grants

NIH/NICHD (R01HD049446)
2011-2016
Innate Immune Responses of Trophoblasts in Pregnancy.
The major goals of this project are to determine the regulation of TLR-2 and TLR-8 mediated inflammation and apoptosis in the normal first trimester trophoblast in response to bacterial and viral components.
Role: Co-Investigator

NIH/NICHD (P01HD054713)
2009-2014
Program: Function of Toll-Like Receptors Throughout Gestation.
Project: Role of Toll-Like Receptors and Glucocorticoid in Placental-Fetal Inflammation. The major goals of this project are to understand the function of Toll-like receptors at the maternal-fetal interface throughout gestation, and their role in infection-associated pregnancy complications. These studies will focus on the inflammatory function of TLRs 3 and 4 in the first trimester placenta (Project I) and the inflammatory function of TLRs 2, 3 and 4 in the decidua (Project II) and term placenta (Project III).
Role: Co-Investigator

Burroughs Wellcome Fund
2009-2010
The Role of Placental Nod-Like Receptors in Infection-Associated Preterm Labor.
The major goals of this project are to determine the function of NLRs in the placenta and their role in infection-associated preterm labor.
Role: Co-Investigator

March of Dimes
2006-2010
Progesterone Receptor Dysregulation and Preterm Birth.
To understand in detail the molecular mechanisms by which progesterone supplementation can prevent preterm birth in some high-risk parturients and, in particular, to characterize the role of the progesterone receptor in spontaneous preterm labor.
Role: Principal Investigator.

Vision Grant Award (Panda)
2008-2009
Preeclampsia Foundation
Role of TLR in Preeclampsia.
The major goal of this project was to delineate the role of TLR in the pathogenesis of preeclampsia.
Role: Co-Investigator
