Emilia Shin, MD spent most of her childhood in southern California then her family moved to South Korea where she went to medical school. Dr. Shin lived in Korea for more than 10 years and shares a love for both cultures in her life. After medical school, she decided to come back to the United States for residency and landed in New York City, which provided her with a diverse patient population and the benefits of living in a big city as well as long-lasting friendships.
Dr. Shin's fellowship at Johns Hopkins gave her the skills, knowledge and confidence to pursue great opportunities such as the current position she's in. She met her research mentor there, whom without she wouldn't have discovered her particular interest in the liver. Dr. Shin's excited to start her first job at Floating Hospital!
In her spare time, Dr. Shin enjoys the violin, hanging out with family outdoors, Disney World and Disney Land, watching Korean comedy shows, shopping with her sister and spending time with her friends.
