Overview Critical and Ongoing Care for Newborns with Respiratory Problems Infants who are born prematurely face a variety of challenges, including respiratory concerns. At Tufts Medical Center’s Floating Hospital for Children, the highly skilled clinicians in our Division of Pediatric Pulmonology are part of your baby’s care team from the beginning. While your baby is still in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), we work with his or her neonatologist to provide supplemental oxygen and ventilation services when necessary. But our relationship with you and your child doesn’t end there. We monitor your baby’s progress as he or she weans off of oxygen and leaves the hospital. And once you’re back home, we see your child for regular visits to empower you successfully manage a nebulizer, medications or other treatments—all aimed at helping your child breathe easier.
