Philanthropy is a critical part of clinical and research programs at Tufts Medical Center's Floating Hospital for Children in downtown Boston, but no department or research initiative has been impacted by philanthropy as profoundly as our Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology.
Recent Major Gifts
Digital Federal Credit Union (DCU)
DCU gave a generous $250,000 gift to renovate the Floating Hospital for Children family waiting area. The waiting area is for the families of both pediatric and adult patients whose loved ones are having surgery. The design will pay special attention to comfort, warmth, and place where family members can relax
The Donna Anne Poulack Foundation
The Donna Anne Poulack Foundation pledged a seed gift of $150,000 to establish a Palliative Care Suite Initiative at the Floating Hospital for Children. The Floating Hospital plans to devote a private space on our inpatient floor to suit the unique needs of palliative care patients – one which is calming, inviting, and equipped to serve the needs of the entire family. The patient room will meet every clinical need with all of the comforts and indications of home in an environment that protects the "sacred space" surrounding the time near the end of life of a child. A beautiful, spacious unit uniquely designed so patients may receive the most modern care in a family-friendly environment. Complete with a kitchenette and dining table, families can also take advantage of internet access in the family gathering space or play a personal CD and DVD. An area off of the patient’s room offers a sleeping quarter when families may require privacy or have discussions with physicians. These features paired with our specialty-trained physicians, nurses and multidisciplinary team are dedicated to relieving pain and other symptoms causing discomfort, while helping patients and families receive the best possible care without having to transition to an entirely new care team at the most crucial time
