The Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Division provides patients with a wide range of family friendly amenities and housing, including:
Made possible with support from The Cam Neely Foundation for Cancer Care and other generous donors, the newly renovated, 5,000-square-foot outpatient facility provides a warm, nurturing environment for pediatric cancer patients and their families, along with age-appropriate distractions to help children receiving treatment. The space includes a bright, cheerful hockey-themed playroom with computers linked to other pediatric oncology clinics across the country, enabling young patients to connect with other kids going through similar experiences.
The Neely Bone Marrow Transplant Unit
The BMT Unit, which opened in 2008 through a gift from the Cam Neely Foundation for Cancer Care, provides a similarly nurturing environment for patients and families. Inside the unit is a family house, where parents can live throughout their child’s transplant experience. Its hepa-filtered design enables patients to interact outside their rooms and provides same-floor, private guest rooms, a kitchen and down time space for parents. If a parent would like to sleep right in the child’s room, there is a comfortable pull down bed in each patient room.
Pediatric Sedation Suite
The first of its kind in the area, the Pediatric Sedation Suite enables physicians and nurses to tailor pain management to the individual needs of each child in a soothing environment complete with high-tech entertainment equipment, all designed to reduce the anxiety often associated with medical procedures. It was created through a grant from the national Ronald McDonald House Charities—a type of grant that no other hospital has received.
The Neely House
The Neely House was created through a gift from the Cam Neely Foundation for Cancer Care as a bed and breakfast style home-away-from-home for cancer patients and their families. The space includes 16 private apartments, 2 common kitchen areas and 2 living rooms. All necessities such as laundry, telephones, internet access and reading libraries are available to families staying here. Our staff will work with the hospital to set up other arrangement options if the rooms at the Neely House are full. The Neely House is your family's home away from home while your child is receiving care from our dedicated Pediatric Hematology/Oncology team.
Ace’s Place was established through a generous donation from the Ace Bailey Children’s Foundation. It is a play center, free from medical intrusion, that was built to help reduce the stress of hospitalization for pediatric patients. Ace’s Place offers a warm and inviting environment to play and socialize with other families staying at Floating Hospital.
