Overview Opening Up the World of Sound to Children Does your child have trouble hearing? Is he or she struggling to hear the spoken word, the melody of a song, or laughter in the playground? If so, you have come to the right place. Floating Hospital for Children's exceptional pediatric ENT specialists are dedicated to bringing the gift of clearer, fuller and richer sound to children who are struggling to hear normally. A highly-skilled, multidisciplinary team of experts is ready to help with the latest treatments and surgical procedures, including cochlear implants and implantable hearing devices. But our commitment and support does not stop there. Our team also includes other key specialists, including a speech pathologist and a social worker, to work with you and your child on some of the issues and challenges that can arise from hearing loss. Getting Started The first step is coming in to Boston for a consultation. You will find a family-friendly environment combined with the resources of a major academic medical center. Our team of otologists and audiologists will test your child’s hearing and assess what treatments or surgical procedures will work best. Cochlear implants may very well be an option, but work best for children with profound hearing loss caused by disorders of the inner ear. All implants are performed by our surgeons and we take pride in maintaining excellent communication with the child’s referring physician or pediatrician.
