Massachusetts Child Psychiatry Access Program (MCPAP)

Overview

Access to Psychiatric Experts for Families That Need it Most

The clinicians at Floating Hospital for Children are dedicated to providing exceptional psychiatric care to children and adolescents. At the same time, we understand that not every family has access to this type of care in their own community. That’s why we are proud to be one of six regional sites for the Massachusetts Child Psychiatry Access Project (MCPAP), funded by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts through the Massachusetts Behavioral Health Partnership.

Founded in 2004, MCPAP allows pediatric primary care physicians to consult with physicians in Tufts Medical Center’s Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, regardless of what type of insurance their patients have. Whether doctors have a question about evaluation, diagnosis or treatment, we can help.

Our clinicians also offer in-person consultations to help confirm a diagnosis, advise on medication safety and otherwise help pediatricians with the decision-making process. We even help coordinate referrals to outpatient therapy and psychiatry when necessary, so that kids and their families have access to the right mental health resources and providers in their community.

MCPAP operates at Tufts Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Our team includes child psychiatrists, a licensed independent clinical social worker, and a care coordinator.
