The Center for Youth Wellness (CYW) at Floating Hospital for Children offers fun and interactive wellness programs to help children and adolescents maintain a healthy weight. Our team and resources provide the support many young people need when they make the decision to eat healthier and become more physically active.
What We Do
In a unique group setting, 11 to 18-year-olds learn how a balanced lifestyle can lead to improved health, weight and self-confidence. Younger children (birth to age 10) and their parents benefit from individual and family nutrition counseling to assist in learning and practicing lifelong healthy habits. Caregivers and expectant parents can attend age-specific nutrition education workshops.

The CYW team is made up of compassionate and experienced specialists (doctors, behaviorists and registered dietitians). Our mission is to provide nonjudgmental, enjoyable, affordable and effective multi-disciplinary preventative care and treatment to empower youth and families — within the hospital and the community — to embrace healthy eating and physical activity habits.
We promote eating balanced meals and snacks throughout the day without being overly restrictive. Each child or adolescent determines the specific dietary changes that are most relevant and important to him or her.
Our Unique Adolescent Weight Management Approach
The Center for Youth Wellness offers in-depth assessments, a 10-week structured group program for youth, education and support for parents, and open communication between clinicians and the adolescent’s primary care doctor. Please note that our center does not provide evaluations for surgical treatment of obesity in adolescents.
