Myelodysplasia Clinic

Dr. Joseph Hanak is the Director of the Myelodysplasia Clinic in the Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and Donna Chapman, RN, is the clinical coordinator.  We provide a multidisciplinary approach to the long-term management of children with spina bifida or related disorders of the spinal cord.

Our team includes specialists from Genetics and Metabolism, Orthopaedics, Urology, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Physical Therapy and Orthothics, as well as nurse clinicians and a clinic coordinator. Consultants from other specialties are available as needed.

Following the patient’s visit, a team conference is held to discuss each patient’s current status, to share concerns and to make recommendation about ongoing care to meet the needs of the patient.
