Metabolic Laboratory

The Metabolic Laboratory at Tufts Medical Center performs amino acid analysis and organic acid analysis, which are important in the diagnosis of metabolic disease. In addition, quantitation of plasma methylmalonic acid is available to test for vitamin B12 deficiency. Sweat testing is also done for the diagnosis of cystic fibrosis.

 

Consultation with a biochemical geneticist is available to aid in identifying the most appropriate metabolic testing for each patient.
