Tufts Medical Center's Comprehensive Family Evaluation Center (CFEC) performs Guardian ad litem, Parent Coordination and specialized clinical assessments on behalf of children and families involved in the court system.
CFEC performs family evaluations in the fields of child custody, child and sexual abuse, visitation, domestic violence, parental alienation and related issues involving children and families in the court system. CFEC accepts appointments for Guardians Ad Litem (GAL), Parent Coordinators (PC), and other court-appointed investigations and evaluations from the Massachusetts Probate and Family Courts as well as the Juvenile Courts in matters of child custody, visitation, adoption, guardianship and related matters.
CFEC’s mental health experts are also available to conduct evaluations and testify in a broad range of civil litigation matters.

Mental Health Expert Witnesses
Tufts Medical Center's CFEC provides psychological and psychiatric assessment and expert testimony in a broad range of civil litigation matters that involve contested issues of mental health. CFEC provides consultation, clinical evaluation and testimony for adults and children involved in most areas of litigation. CFEC handles matters involving personal injury, employment, probate, disability and other litigation that involves mental health issues.
Services are tailored to fit particular circumstances. A typical evaluation includes diagnosis, assessment of acute and chronic stressors, short- and long-term disability, strategies for recovery, organizational responses, prognosis and damages. Additional diagnostic tools are developed to meet the needs of individual matters. CFEC services both plaintiffs and defendants in the following areas:
