Newborn Follow-Up Program

|
The NICU Follow-Up Program provides a multidisciplinary team to assist primary caregivers with the monitoring and management of infants with complex medical, growth and developmental issues. The program is designed for infants who are at increased risk for long-term medical and developmental concerns, including all premature infants less than 28 weeks gestation and less than 1 kg birth weight, as well as all infants with identified medical or developmental risk factors.
The NICU Follow-Up Program also provides long-term evaluation of infants enrolled in neonatal clinical trials. Infants referred to the program are evaluated by a developmental-behavioral pediatrician, neonatologist, physical therapist, ophthalmologist and audiologist.
Additional subspecialty evaluations and support services are available as indicated. Subspecialty evaluation and local community services are coordinated with the family through the primary care provider as appropriate and the team provides immediate feedback to parents and primary care providers regarding the findings and recommendations.
