Referring Physician Information

Consultations or arrangements for transporting a baby to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit may be made by calling the unit directly 617-636-5008. An attending physician or fellow is on site 24 hours a day to discuss patient management and arrange for prompt transport if needed.

As Boston's preeminent advocate of regionalized neonatal care, the Division maintains close communication with referring hospitals and physicians, emphasizing prompt return transport of infants no longer requiring tertiary intensive care.

The Division of Newborn Medicine also has direct affiliations with several Affiliated Community Nurseries in the greater Boston area, providing an enhanced level of care in the community, and facilitating the transition of patients between the tertiary and local hospital settings.
