Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma Institute

Welcome to the Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma Institute (KPTI) home page.
KPTI is dedicated to the specialized care of pediatric trauma patients and to the health and safety of all children.
Traumatic injuries are the leading cause of death and disability to children. More children are killed and disabled by injuries than all other diseases combined.
As a partnership between the New England District of Kiwanis and the Floating Hospital for Children at Tufts Medical Center, we have worked together since 1981 providing the highest level of expertise available to treat the most seriously injured children at our Pediatric Emergency Department, an American College of Surgeons verified Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center.
KPTI is the first pediatric trauma center in the world to provide medical care for injured children, medical research on pediatric trauma, and injury prevention programs for children and families. Our Community Safety Programs reach more than 33,000 children and their families each year in New England alone.
