For Patients and Families

Floating Hospital for Children at Tufts Medical Center is a full service children's hospital and the principal pediatric teaching hospital for Tufts University School of Medicine. All our physicians hold faculty positions at the university and are among the most talented and highly trained pediatric specialists in the country. Our focus and mission every day is to improve the lives of children and their families. We treat each child as if they are our own.
Our family-focused children's hospital, located in downtown Boston, offers pediatric inpatient and outpatient services in every medical specialty from general pediatric services to the care of the most complex cancers, heart diseases and traumas. Our services begin with the earliest stages of life in our Level III Newborn Intensive Care Unit and continue with the care of healthy and sick children from toddlers to adolescents ready for adulthood. Our Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma Institute allow us care for the most critically ill children. We also offer many services in the community for the convenience of our patients. We partner with exceptional community hospitals, including Lowell General Hospital and MetroWest Medical Center.
Floating Hospital for Children has long been known for its many innovations in pediatric medicine and for including the entire family in the care-giving process. We were the first children's hospital to allow parents to stay overnight in the room with their hospitalized children, and our Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma Institute is the first U.S. trauma center exclusively for children. Child life specialists here at Floating Hospital for Children at Tufts Medical Center help ease children’s and families’ fears and worries through therapeutic play and onsite support groups and by offering open visiting hours for parents and siblings.
