Nutrition/Food Services

|
A nurse will talk with you about your child’s eating habits and favorite foods. Information on food allergies that your child has, along with any preferences and special requests, will be given to the hospital’s dietitians who assess each child’s nutritional needs and plan meals in accordance with a physician’s direction. Dietitians are available on each floor to discuss your child’s nutritional care. Older children are given menus and can choose their own meals. We encourage parents of younger children to fill out their child’s menu selector. If a parent is not available, the dietitians make sure that the child receives meals suitable for his or her age. A mother who is breast-feeding her child is encouraged to continue to do so while the child is in the hospital. Private areas are available for this purpose.
