Tobacco-free Campus Coming April 16
In Massachusetts, smoking-related illness remains the leading cause of death. To further protect the health and safety of our patients, visitors and staff, Tufts Medical Center, Floating Hospital for Children and Tufts University Boston campuses will become tobacco-free on Patriots Day, April 16, 2012. There will be no smoking or using other tobacco products anywhere on campus; current designated smoking areas will be closed.
Tufts MC and Floating Hospital are partnering with the Boston Public Health Commission and nine other hospitals to extend existing smoking bans to all areas, including parking lots, garages and walkways.
If you’d like to quit smoking and live in Boston, now is a great time, using free nicotine patches offered by the Boston Public Health Commission at 1-800-QUIT NOW (1-800-784-8669) through the end of May.
