Welcome from our Director and Chairman

Welcome from our Pediatric Residency Director

Welcome to the Pediatric Residency Program at the Floating Hospital for Children at Tufts Medical Center.  The Floating Hospital for Children is a tertiary care children’s hospital with academic affiliation to several community hospitals around Massachusetts.  This distributed academic model leads to a medically and culturally diverse experience for our residents, providing them with unique educational and learning opportunities.

The mission of our residency program is to provide each resident with a strong foundation in general pediatrics while being conscious of each resident’s professional interests and future career goals.

Our diverse population of patients and complex diseases will prepare you for both community pediatrics and subspecialty fellowship training. The patients and curriculum will teach you how to become a partner to the community and advocate for the patient.

It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to Floating Hospital for Children and the Tufts University School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics. We have a long and distinguished tradition of patient centric care and clinical research from our earliest days as a hospital ship in Boston Harbor. Now as a lovely 100 bed children’s hospital on the campus of Tufts University School of Medicine in the Theatre District of downtown Boston, we strive to provide a uniquely nurturing training environment with a very diverse patient base and strong academics.

Our children’s hospital is among the fastest growing in the state, and we have over 30 new faculty who have joined us in the last several years. We have new programs in cardiology, pediatric hospitalist medicine, diabetes, and obesity to name a few.

Our physical plant has received over $6 million in investments over the last few years including a beautiful renovation of the NICU, and a brand new pediatric bone marrow transplantation center. We strive to provide a balanced program that will allow you to enter a primary care practice with ease, or to join a subspecialty fellowship program as one of their prized applicants.

We look forward to meeting you and proudly sharing our children’s hospital and Department with you.

Best wishes,
