Who volunteers?
There is no typical profile of a volunteer; volunteers come from all walks of life and backgrounds. They are students, business people and retirees. All that is required is a desire to give, to share, to get involved and to make a difference.
What can a volunteer do?
Volunteers are placed throughout the hospital and are assigned based on their interests, capabilities, departmental needs and time availability. Volunteer assignments include the Emergency Room, Information Desks, Ambassador/Greeters, Patient Visiting, Operating Room, Pediatrics, Clerical/Administrative, Gift Shop and more.
Where will I volunteer?
Tufts Medical Center offers the pride of the past and the excitement of the future. Founded in 1796, Tufts Medical Center was joined by other clinics and The Floating Hospital for Children to became Tufts Medical Center in 1965. It is the principal teaching hospital of Tufts University School of Medicine, and offers comprehensive care for adults and children in every medical specialty. Tufts Medical Center is the perfect place for to volunteer.
When are volunteers needed?
We welcome volunteers who can commit to a regular time shift each week. Most volunteer assignments are available mornings and afternoons, Monday through Friday. There are some limited evening and weekend openings. We ask that you be available to volunteer a minimum of one shift per week and complete at least 40 hours of total service. High school volunteers (16 and over) are needed weekdays from 3 - 5 p.m. We have an expanded high school summer program.
